Finger-type joint construction

VS-F, also known as the finger plate system, is the simplest and oldest form of roadway expansion joint.

Two comb-shaped steel plates are reciprocally inserted into one another without touching and thus provide space for the bridge to expand. Because this system is not designed to be watertight above the structural joint, the joint construction is drained by a plastic gutter suspended below it which thus protects the structure from water aggression.

VS-F is optimally suited for use as a roadway expansion joint in lift bridges as described in the current case.
